Almost 300 people came out to support the Sing For Haiti at the Key West United Methodist Church known locally as the Old Stone Church. The evening included a presentation by USCG Cutter Mohawk crew member Health Services Corpsman Elias Gomez, who described his experience as a medical first responder after the earthquake, giving personal stories about feeling God’s presence as they were providing medical aid on the scene. There was also a reading of an original poem by Sheila Miklus. Dean Walters, director of music, KW UMC, said “The concert was a huge success, and a very special and spiritual moment.”
